Managing Partner

Mallary de Merlier is a registered U.S. Patent Attorney and co-managing partner of Veros Legal Solutions. Over the past twenty years, Mallary has been dedicated to all aspects of patent prosecution matters, including assisting clients in developing their IP strategy as well as in obtaining and managing patent portfolios for the biotechnology and medical device industries. Prior to co-founding Veros with Tom, Mallary was previously co-managing partner at the U.S. office of a global IP firm and a partner in one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the United States.

Mallary has a wide variety of experience representing a diverse list of clients. Her clients have ranged from individual inventors to universities, technology companies, and research institutes. Mallary has developed and managed IP portfolios for clients in the fields of immunology, molecular biology, cell biology and stem cells, biochemistry, pharmaceuticals, drug delivery, blood purification, nutraceuticals, diagnostics, and medical devices such as infusers, catheter assemblies and orthopaedic braces. Her expertise includes the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, counseling on patent strategy, and intellectual property due diligence for both large and small businesses.  

Prior to entering law, Mallary carried out research at Montana State University directed to the use of biological organisms to control weeds. She is a graduate of the University of San Diego (J.D.) cum laude and Santa Clara University (B.S Biology).

Mallary’s passion is service. Whether partnering with clients to achieve their IP goals, volunteering at local nonprofits, or feeding her three voracious teenagers, she is committed to helping others.
